Technical Sessions 3: 2 Ways to Verify Your Unverifiable B2B Email

Posted on

Sent mail—meaning email, not direct mail—is one of the highest quality ways to ensure your messages are being delivered to a person.

“With a good delivery system, responses to sent mail can be trusted,” Holmes said. A delivery message, especially with an open, is a great way to check to be sure that a person got your message.

A problem with sent mail (coming up later) is that catch-alls can keep the message from being delivered. But if you have great delivery, you’re not likely being spoofed. (Plus, you can collect more metadata this way.)

Another pro of good delivery is the low percentage of unknown responses. “Your soft bounces, mailbox full notifications, and out of office responses also come in much smaller amounts,” Holmes said. The quality is just higher because you can draw a direct line between your message and the recipient.

Technical Sessions 2: Reverse IP Lookup for B2B Sales

Posted on

Reverse IP lookup is a way to discern something about a company so you can sell something to them—which is all well and good. But what exactly, you wisely ask, can I do with this technical topic to drive company sales?

In the second of Rick Holmes’s Technical Sessions, you will figure out what reverse IP lookup is good for and why you’d want to bother with mapping anonymous website traffic. Hint: It’s not as anonymous as you think.

Your IP address is what’s displayed in most web logs for your machine. Here’s the process: you browse a page, your machine logs onto the page, it gives off your public IP address, and the web page notes where you came from and when you leave. That’s really it.

This is the good part. IP addresses can be used identify both companies and households on the internet. Using IP addresses to find out information about companies falls under the topic of reverse IP lookup.

How Not to Source Garbage Data

Posted on

In first party data, you’re bringing your own CRM file or customer data online, so accuracy is a must if you plan to message your customer base. A quality check is super important because you can’t really mess with your existing CRM or first party data.

Which is not an easy thing. “Maybe you bring in data from your offline CRM or onboarder, or you have it in a platform, but you also have your own websites out across the mobile and digital sphere,” Rolf said. “Now you’re bringing in anonymous data from those sources, so you must pair online data correctly with the offline.”

With third party data, you have to keep this in mind: “It’s always been this play of scale vs. quality,” Rolf said. When you’re a big brand or advertiser, everything is about scale—that’s what programmatic is built on. “Now I have unlimited inventory and I can reach anybody anywhere, so I have to find the who. I have to make sure the who is right.”…….

How Privacy and Data Policies Differ in Europe

Posted on

Over the last ten years, there’s been much more of a focus on privacy in Europe.

In the U.S., CAN-SPAM was the line in the sand and everyone got through that legislation. But in Europe, there are some really draconian measures that have come out. A lot of companies have corporate data policies driven more out of fear than necessity.

These are just some of the current differences in privacy and data handling between the U.S. and the UK. In this post, we summarize our recent interview with Karie Burt, VP International at MeritDirect, who explained that difference and others on the Corporate Data Show.

Use Your Dead Data and Break Through Associated Inboxes

For 15 years, people treated email marketing the same way: “I’ve got a list, I batch, I blast, I send.”

With more data and sophisticated tools available, people are now choosier about what they allow into their inboxes. So the question becomes, “How can we add value in our messages?”

We recently interviewed Rich Wilson, VP of Customer Experience at BrightWave Marketing, who explained why getting data to give you the right context is crucial to breaking through an inbox.

Want to engage your target audience? Heres how.

Account-based marketing, in its simplest terms, is about marketing the accounts that your sales team is going to sell to.

One of the core parts of account-based marketing is sales and marketing alignment. Often marketing is running off of metrics that aren’t aligned with the sales team.

We recently spoke with Chris Golec, CEO of DemandBase, and he dove a little bit deeper into that basic definition, and explained how small (or large) businesses can use account-based strategies to the fullest.

3 Components for Maximum Data Creation

“Have you ever trusted a chair without knowing it was broken?

There is no worse feeling than plopping down in a chair, and immediately ending up on the floor. If a four-legged chair is missing a leg, the whole chair is rendered obsolete. It won’t support your weight.

In a nutshell, that is how data creation works. There are three distinct parts to data creation, and if you lose one of those components, the lack of support will eventually hurt you.

An article published by Forbes called, Three Legs of Big Data Stool Needed For Success, adds additional insight (with slightly different verbiage) into what Tim is talking about.”
